Dental Hygienist/Therapist (Plymouth 2021)

GDC no. 247255

Jess first joined Honeycomb Dental Clinic as a Dental Nurse in 2017. After being a Dental Nurse for a number of years and gaining a handful of post qualifications… hmmm… she wanted another challenge… and decided to train as a Dental Therapist.

Upon graduation from Plymouth University, Jess was awarded the A-Dec Simulated Dental Learning Environment Prize and was also a finalist at the ‘Future of Dentistry Awards’ for Student Dental Therapist of the Year 2020.

As her studying years went by, she would occasionally help us with nursing or reception during her holiday periods while we (at HDC) ‘secretly’ waited for her to graduate…

It was meant to be… Jess re-joined us in July 2021 now has a Dental Therapist. She not only provides the best care to our patients but also plays an important role in Team building and Team education.

Dr. Miguel Colaço, BDS (Lisbon) 2003
Principal Dentist

GDC No. 84049

Shortly after graduating in 2003 in Lisbon, Portugal, Miguel moved to the UK.

Looking for a change and challenge in both his life and career he decided upon the city of Bristol mainly for its cultural diversity and vibrant reputation.

Working for several practices in the Bristol area for 10 years has provided Miguel with vast cultural and work experience. He is now established in Winscombe as the owner and registered manager of Honeycomb Dental Clinic.

Miguel’s core motivation to be a dentist is the everyday challenge of delivering high quality therapy adapted to individual’s needs of various types of characters and personalities coming into the Clinic; and the sense of accomplishment in doing so when noticing the positive impact of the end results on his patients.

''I like the challenge of putting anxious patients at ease and to see their confidence build up as they overcome their fear over the course of a few appointments. It is truly rewarding!''

“Particularly in this community, I feel that the general population cares about their oral care and do listen to our advice. And this keeps us clinicians even more motivated to provide a better service.”

Miguel has a particular interest in Fixed Prosthodontics (crown and bridge work) and Endodontics (root canal therapy).

In 2008, he joined 'Dentists without Borders' in Central America, providing Aid work to the local people of Nicaragua. He has travelled the world and is very curious about different cultures. He feels connected to Nature and the Environment.

Our principal dentist will also get his hand on any sports challenge one can throw at him: Snowboarding; he is a Stress & Rescue certified Scuba Diver; enjoys climbing; basketball (he played in a team); he is a keen trekker; and more.

Nowadays, in his free time, Miguel likes to immerse himself spending time with his family and playing alongside his young daughter.

Dr. Tara Brocklehurst, BDS Bristol 2010
Associate Dentist

GDC no. 191934

Tara graduated from the University of Bristol in 2010 and has worked in the South West since.

Dr. Kasia Mazur, BDS (Krakow) 2016,  MFDS RCSEd
Associate Dentist

GDC no. 284093

Kasia graduated in 2016 from the Jagiellonian University, School of Medicine in Krakow and soon after moved to Denmark, where she worked for several years. During that period, whilst working in general practice, Kasia was also actively involved in postgraduate education both in Denmark and the UK, as well as professional societies throughout Europe.

Upon returning to the UK, she has now settled in the lovely area of Bath.

Settled but ‘unsettled’… Kasia keeps pursuing further education: she has successfully completed the MFDS with the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh. She is working towards the completion of a PGDip in Restorative Dentistry with the FGDP, Royal College of Surgeons England and is now planning on pursuing further training in Implantology and Special Care Dentistry.

‘I like to adopt a minimally invasive approach to dentistry and I try to provide patients with a calm, patient and methodical approach to treatment’.

Kasia particularly enjoys working with patients who have had difficult experiences with dentistry in the past: ‘I like seeing them build their confidence back and generally developing honest and down to earth relationships with the people I treat’.

As a result, we often see patients dropping her from flowers to chocolates… from honey pots to antiques…

When not at work Kasia spends her time making things… and more things… working on wood carving and sculptures (don’t you ever under estimate her skills here), hiking, cooking, ‘I like to pretend I know something about wine’, and attempting to finish at least one of the unknown number of books piling up on her nightstand.

Starting as a dental nurse and receptionist, over the years Tina naturally progressed into Practice Management and Cluster Management. She worked for a corporate Dental Group in Bristol where she was looking after a small group of 3 practices over a period of 6 years.

She then took up a senior role as an Area Manager for a large corporate dental company covering South and West Wales. Subsequently, Tina’s career went even further by securing an ‘Operations Manager’ role running a group of 10 Dental Practices covering all aspects of the day to day running of a company.

“I have seen and been part of many positive changes and challenges within the Dental Sector over the past 30 years and I feel the skills, experience and knowledge I have acquired throughout this period can only strengthen and assist our team and patients alike at Honeycomb Dental Clinic…”
